If he's in any of your classes it should be easy to find out his name and get to know him more. If not, you should try to hang around him sometime, find out what his interests are and what he likes to do. Who knows, you might have something in common...
As for talking to him, be confident! Guys like confidence in girls, besides if all you're trying to do is start a conversation what's the worst thing he could say? "Go away?" If he said that, he's not a very nice person... Good Luck!

And last but not least, personallity. This, all I have to say is "Dont be a retared or a nerd" be very mature about it. Then either you or her/him will ask hte other one out. If you ask her out and she says no, try finding another date. But if this doesnt work, its pretty sure you are not dateable.

well, i am in the same situation, and my crush doesn't act like he notices i like him or make fun of me. so i ( as bravely as i can) take a deep breathe and start conversation. but don't make it too random, if Ur at school then talk about something school related. be confident in yourself!! don't act like him knowing is a big deal.
