you should tell them what your doing. I wouldn't say " nothing much" because then there's nothing to talk about and it already ends the conversation before it even started. So say something you both or all can talk about, chose a conversation starter like "listening to music" then the person might ask "what type of music" or "what band" and then you get into a conversation. So i would avoid "nothing much" "board" and things like that, say anything that will start a conversation like "listening to music" "watching a movie" and saying "watching a movie" is great to use if you like someone because you could always say " I really want to see Alice in Wonderland maybe we should go see it sometime" something along those lines. So stick with conversation starters. Hope i helped
