I guess it depends if either you or him is older.
If he is older, then 6 years isn't a lot. My best friends parents (who are divorced) well, her father is 11 years older then her mum.
It's my opinion but, if you are older then I'm not sure if it'll work. My other best friends mum was 3 years older than her father.
