To strengthen the power of the central government. The preceding Articles of the Confederation gave too much power to the states, and left too little power to the central government, as shown by Shays' Rebellion. A stronger central power was necessary, and thus the Constitution was born.
They were assumed by the writers of the Constitution to be necessary to the government to function
State Governments.
John Locke
Ahh, finally, an actually educated answer. The main reason writers of the constitution include this provision was to spread power so it is not one, very strong central government. The founding fathers did not want to be like England.
To allow leaders to make bolder decisions
The founding fathers did not fear strong central government, if anything they supported it. The British rule was very strong in government and America did not want too much power to come to one or a group of people. So the Articles of Confederation were set up as a weak form of central government to avoid becoming like the British rule.
To allow leaders to make bolder decisions
The separation of powers have to do with the writers of the constitution's concern for making one person the most powerful in the new government.
