The "Ask us anything" prompt is a bit pro-forma. It is assumed and implied that anything you ask would be according to the rules. It cannot be too wordy nor preach, and it should be something warm and inviting, though preferably not inviting offensive questions, trolling, or "wiki lawyering." Wiki lawyering refers to someone nitpicking the minutia to try to prove they were not doing anything wrong. That is much like in the President Clinton hearings where they wanted to know the exact definition of the word sex, and the exact definition of the word is. Most wiki sites have things that will get you warned or banned that are not explicitly stated in the rules, and spelling out that they aren't rarely ever helps.

This tends to be a common question, where people ask why it says to ask anything when you cannot literally ask anything you want. Now, if you can think up a better way of wording it, I am sure a community assistant would love to hear your suggestion. I myself am stumped as to what else could be put there and still sound friendly and inviting. Here are examples of this conundrum at work and what is wrong with most alternatives:

"Ask us anything that doesn't break the rules" - Too wordy and somewhat curt as it may make the rules seem like the most important thing. The rules are just the means to an end, and that is having a friendly atmosphere and getting along. Thus people are the important thing, and the rules are for the benefit of the people.

"Ask us anything reasonable" - That might scare some into not asking, while to people such as bigots, nearly anything they say seems reasonable.

"Ask here" - While that doesn't advertise being able to ask what you shouldn't ask, it is also less personal. The "us" part implies there is a community.

"Ask us," "Ask us here" - These seem the best of this list so far.

"Your query" - Not everyone knows what query means these days.

"Your question" - That isn't too bad.

Why will not it give me the answer?

Not all questions are answered on the site, however for help on how to answer a question, see the related link below. All the time questions and answers come through on the site, and it would be impossible to get all the questions answered at any one time.

Is there any button you can click on that will show you all of your questions?

Yes there is. You would go to "my contributions" under "my pages" to the left of the page. There would adjust it to only show you "questions (asked)". At that point, there are all of your questions to the site.
