The pharynx although its broken into the nasopharynx, the oropharynx and the laryngopharynx.
The esophagus is located just behind the trachea (windpipe), in the neck. It's at the end of your oral cavity down your neck and to your stomach. It is the muscular tube that links the mouth to the stomach. You cannot feel your esophagus in your throat because the trachea is in front of it.
Once you push food to the back of your through to swallow it, the esophagus pushes it down to your stomach. As food goes from your mouth to your esophagus, it passes over top of the epiglottis, which shuts like a lid to keep stuff from falling down your trachea (windpipe).
mouth
peristalsis.... the reason why food travels through the esophagus into the stomach is that it is moved along by contractions of smooth muscle surrounding the esophagus. This is known as peristalsis
because the shape is a double helix. so it looks like a zipper and connects to each other.

The esophagus is a tube-like organ that runs from the throat down to the stomach. The esophagus allows food to travel from the throat to the stomach via a muscle movement called, 'Peristalsis.'
The esophagus and the larynx are the two channels that originate in the pharynx. The larynx connects to the wind pipe (trachea) and the esophagus connects to the stomach via of the cardiac valve. The epiglottis is a small flap-like structure that protects the larynx (your ability to breathe) when you swallow/eat/drink.
Things transfer from your esophagus to your stomach through the cardiac sphincter
Esophageal pouches, also known as esophageal diverticula, are pocket-like structures formed when the interior space of the esophagus, the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach, protrudes into the walls that surround it.

The esophagus is the tube-like structure that joins the throat to the stomach. The esophagus, which is positioned behind the trachea, is about eight inches in length.
It is a hollow tube like structure. It takes food from mouth to stomach.
Digestion starts in the mouth and continues in the stomach. The small intestine completes the digestion process.
The windpipe, or the trachea, is a tube-like portion of the respiratory (breathing) tract that connects the larynx (the voicebox) with the bronchial parts of the lungs. The esophagus is the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. It lays just behind the trachea and the larynx.
It looks like a giant tube. It helps food go down to your stomach.
