During the Great Depression people began to be poor. People had to use flour sacks as clothes. Children dropped out of school so they could help out at home. The economy of the whole world was down. Many people didn't have enough money and they couldn't pay the mortgage, so the bank took away their house. Other children had to go to the orphanage and many people went to the place they call the mission or the soup kitchen.
