The leader of the Senate is the leader chosen by the majority party. She is called the Senate Majority Leader. The leader of the party that has minority of the members is called the Senate Minority Leader.
The Vice President of the United States is the President of the Senate. However, the Vice President usually doesn't actually preside over Senate sessions. The Senate elects its own President Pro Tempore, who appoints the Senator who will actually preside (lead the session) on a given day.

Probably the most powerful individual Senator is the Majority Leader--the Senator elected as the leader of whichever party currently holds the majority of the seats. This position is currently held by Democrat Harry Reid of Nevada.
