The best thing to do is to select the columns on either side of the hidden column(s) and then go to the Unhide option on the Format menu, under Column.

Where do you place the mouse pointer to display a hidden column?

If you suspect that there is a hidden column, consider doing this: 1. Press Ctrl + A. This will select all cells in your current sheet. 2. Position your mouse pointer between two columns so that the icon changes. Example: You could place the mouse pointer between the column names A and B, on the line. 3. Click and drag the line so that the width of all columns in the sheet is increased. 4. The hidden columns [if any] will now be visible. To go back to the previous width of columns, use Undo [Ctrl Z]

Can the border to the right of a column be dragged until it is at a desired height?

To resize a column, place the pointer on the right edge of the column heading until the pointer changes to a doubleheaded arrow. Click and drag to the right until the column expands to the width you want.

What do you do to automatically resize column headings to match the width of the largest data filled in a column?

Put the mouse pointer between the column header of the column the text is in and the one to the right, until it becomes a double-headed arrow. Then double-click. So if the text was in column C, you'd put the mouse pointer on the border between the C and D for each column and when you saw the pointer change to having two arrows, then double click.

What does a series of number signs mean in a cell?

Assuming you mean a cell in a spreadsheet program, when the contents are displayed as #####, it usually means the cell is not wide enough to display the contents. One way to widen the cell is to click and drag the mouse pointer at the edge of the column header. Another is to select the column and change the column width.

What does The split double arrow mouse pointer in Excel?

It is the result of moving the mouse pointer to the boundary between column heading A and column heading B, or between any neighbouring column headings. Once it is visible, it is possible to change the column widths. The column to the left is always the one that will have its width changed.

How do you widen an active cell using a mouse?

You cannot widen individual cells. You widen columns. To do that you have to put the mouse between the two headings of a column, like between the A and B above those two columns. The mouse pointer will change and then click and drag to change the column width. Dragging always affects the column to the left of the mouse. You cannot widen individual cells. You widen columns. What is displayed by dragging the boundary width column in Excel?

You will see a pop up with the width of the column. You will also see a dotted line going down the sides of the column. You will also see the line with the double arrow as the mouse pointer.

In Microsoft Excel sometimes I type a lot and it replaces my text with a bunch of number signs how do I get rid of that?

If the contents of a cell are too big to display within that cell Excel will use empty cells to the right to display it in full. However, if adjacent cells aren't empty Excel will display ##### to indicate that the column is not wide enough to display the contents. Make the column wider by dragging the right hand border of the column header to the right. If you double click instead of dragging the column will re-size itself to accommodate the longest entry.
