Depends on a number of factors, including tire size and corresponding revolutions per mile, final gear ratio of the transmission, and how many RPMs that engine is allowed to run. 3.42 is used both in light duty vehicles and heavy duty tractor-trailers, with different results for each.
That all depends on what engine is in it and the rear gear ratio.
The gear ratio for top gear is chosen to produce maximum speed, which occurs at a speed where the engine's maximum power is take up with maintaining a constant speed (on the level). For cars the overall ratio for top gear is 3.5 to 4.5 : 1. For example, if the engine's maximum power is 100 bhp at 6300 rpm, and that power can drive the car at the maximum speed of 110 mph, the overall ratio is chosen to give 6300 rpm at 110 mph.
It should bury the speedometer depending on the gear ratio.
More top end speed and fuel economy.
A smaller number as a gear ratio means more speed. Higher ratios have higher torque and less speed. The size of the engine just determines hp and tq for that engine unless it is upgraded. The gear ratio and engine determine the vehicles top speed and acceleration. More torque means more power therefore more acceleration.
You can change the differential gear ratio but you will sacrifice quickness on the lower end unless you have sufficient horsepower.
Overdrive is a gear in your transmission that allows you to save gas and lower engine rpm by changing the net gearing to a higher, more gas effiecient ratio. Typically it is higher than 1 to 1 which is usually the top gear. This makes it like you had a higher ratio rearend gear installed also allowing a higher top speed at a slower acceleration curve. Consider it an economy gear ratio.
Depends on the Year, Model, gear ratio, engine. Typically, they wont exceed 135 mph unmodified
Think about changing the ratio on your differentials instead.
1996 1000r ninja top speed 162 @ redline in top gear.
No because both cars are going the same speed. Changing the size of a tire effectively changes the gear ratio the car drives in. A larger tire will gear the car up and so it will have a higher top speed.
It depends on the rear end gear ratio, but the top speed should be between 115 with 3.55 gears or 125mph with 3.23gears.
