Some traditional foods of Spain are paella, Spanish potato omelets or tortilla Espanola, gazpacho, and tapas. Dessert foods can include flan, turron (nougat), and polvoron (a kind of shortbread).
Here are a few typical Spanish dishes:
pallella - rice with prawns, pieces if chicken, pieces of spare ribs, vegetables... you can really put as much or as little as you like in it. The base is a sauce make of fried garlic, tomatoes and herbs.
pan con tomate y jamon (originally from Catalonia) - toasted french stick bread , rub tomato (halved) over it, pour on some olive oil (spanish not Italian) and salt to taste. Eat this with spanish cured ham (not Italian parma ham which is tasteless in comparison) or any other cold meats.
spanish omlette - (potato omlette) lots of small pieces of chopped potato (1lb) one chopped onion. Fry these together till soft. Mix with 6 eggs. Cook this mixture in frying pan till both sides are golden brown and the omllette is cooked right through. Can be eaten with tomato bread. (see above)
There are also alot of very good fish dishes, but as I'm not very keen on fish I don't make any.
Also they have a delicious roasted pig and of course, tortilla de papas- yum!!
