- Tortilla de patatas. Tortillas are popular. A Tortilla is like a savory potato omelette

- Chorizo is the most typical Spanish sausage, heavily scented with paprika and garlic.
- Meat is also very popular in Spanish cuisine; mutton, lamb, pork, and beef are staples
- Madrid: the cocido madrileno (Madrid's chickpea stew)
- Madrid: the tripe dish callos a la madrilena
- More foods are empanadas, porkchops, totones, etc
- Los mariscos: lots of different seafoods for a main course
- Calamares a la romana (Fried squid)
- Cocido montanes from Cantabria
- Gazpacho (cold bread and tomato soup)
- Gooseneck barnacles typical from Galicia
- Fabada asturiana (bean stew)
- Lechazo asado (roasted milk-fed lamb)
- Majorca's Ensaimada, a pastry
- Shellfish
- Chuletillas (grilled chops of milk-fed lamb)
- Frixuelos
- Mackerel and flatfish
- Hake
- Cooked and cured sausages from Vic are famous
- Catalan cream, similar to crème brulee
- Cocido (chickpea and meat stew)
- Pescaito frito, battered fried fish, typical of Malaga and Western Andalusia
- A rich stew of bacon, fowl, ham, meats, and vegetables
- Piquillo peppers, filled with cod or tuna
- Piquillo peppers stuffed with meat
- Turron, a type of nougat with almonds and honey
- Roncal and Idiazabal cheeses
- Polvoron, a type of Spanish shortbread
- Peaches with red wine (from Calanda, in Teruel)
- Faba beans with clams
- Idiazabal cheese
- Trout a la Navarra (stuffed with bacon and cheese)
- Asturian stew
- Tapas
- Salmorejo
- Samfaina (Ratatouille)
- Tudela's lettuce hearts with anchovies
- Salchichas de Zaratan
- Cheeses like Cheese of Serrada or Burgos's Fresh Cheese
- Arroz con leche (rice pudding)
- Asturian cheeses, especially Cabrales
- Jamon de Guijuelo, Spanish cured ham from Guijuelo (Salamanca)
- Marmita typical from Cantabria

∙ 6y agoHere are a few typical Spanish dishes:
pallella - rice with prawns, pieces if chicken, pieces of spare ribs, vegetables... you can really put as much or as little as you like in it. The base is a sauce make of fried garlic, tomatoes and herbs.
pan con tomate y jamon (originally from Catalonia) - toasted french stick bread , rub tomato (halved) over it, pour on some olive oil (spanish not Italian) and salt to taste. Eat this with spanish cured ham (not Italian parma ham which is tasteless in comparison) or any other cold meats.
spanish omlette - (potato omlette) lots of small pieces of chopped potato (1lb) one chopped onion. Fry these together till soft. Mix with 6 eggs. Cook this mixture in frying pan till both sides are golden brown and the omllette is cooked right through. Can be eaten with tomato bread. (see above)
There are also alot of very good fish dishes, but as I'm not very keen on fish I don't make any.
Also they have a delicious roasted pig and of course, tortilla de papas- yum!!
