Boxer was injured because he worked too hard. After that, it was arranged that he would be sent to a veterinarian/animal hospital facility. However, Squealer, being as smart as he is, sent him off to the glue factory. He obviously died there.
He was sent off to the glue factory, courtesy of the pigs, who found him unprofitable since he could not work with a broken leg.
After helping with the harvest, boxer dies of fatigue. He gets sold to be made into glue.
In the battle of the windmill, the animals were defending the farm with their lives. They thought the humans were trying to take the farm back, but in reality, they tried to destroy the windmill. Boxer helped defend the farm. He was shot. When the battle was over, the book says he hurt when he walked. The shots were lodged in his legs. Nevertheless, Boxer continued to work hard even though many animals thought he should stop and take a break.
He collapsed from the stone he was trying to carry to the windmill; he said that his lung was damaged, and was taken to the animal hospital. He somewhat recovered, but was still injured. He was later taken without warning by "Alfred Simmonds, Horse Slaughterer and Glue Boiler, Willingdon. Dealer in Hides and Bone-Meal" (what was written on the van).
