locate the airbag (frontal / side crash sensors) and hit it with a hammer really hard. This will then turn the airbag on, and make it pop open. Otherwise it is Computer (master brain) controlled. The brain receives a signal from the sensor affected, then relays that signal to the correct airbag/curtain and tells it to deploy.
