you would set up the equation 3.15(x)+2.90(20-x)=2.95(x) because the unknown amounts together have to equal twenty so the second one is 20 minus what ever the first one is so you use distributive and arrive at 3.15x+58-2.90x=59 then subtract 58 and subtract 2.90x to arrive at .25x=1 so the x is 4. then since the x was applying to the 3.15 or the apricots then you know there was 4 lb. of apricots in the 20 lb. mixture and if here was twenty total then there has to be 16 lb. of Prunes (20-4) BAM DONE.
