If their velocities are equal, then the speed of each bus relative to the other is zero. A passenger

on one bus could read a newspaper held up by a passenger on the other one.

What is velocity the same as?

Velocity is a relative term. If we call that the object is moving and in particular direction, then there must be another object present, from witch it is moving away. and we can not say, witch object is moving away. If all object maintain the same position in respect to each other then, we will call them to have zero velocity.

What is the same as zero velocity?

When are velocity and acceleration perpendicular to each other?

When body is moving in a circle.

Two objects with the same velocity must be moving in the same?

They would be traveling at the same speed. Two objects moving with the same velocity must be moving in the same direction and at the same speed. The reason for this is because velocity is speed in a specified direction. Another way to say that is to say that velocity is speed with a direction vector. It is a physical quantity with magnitude and direction. Two objects moving with the same speed could be moving toward a head-on collision. Or they could be moving along convergent, divergent or skewed paths. Not so with two objects that have identical velocities. They are moving on the same or on parallel courses, and they are moving at the same speed.

Describe a situation in which the car has zero speed but has a definite acceleration?

An object moving at constant speed in a circle. Acceleration is rate of change of velocity, as velocity is speed in a certain direction, when moving in a circle an object's velocity is constantly changing, as its velocity is changing it is accelerating.

Can a body at rest have an accleration?

acceleration is a relative quantity . state of rest or motion is also relative . if two body is in rest or moving with same velocity and having same acceleration then one is in state of rest with respect to other . suppose a person sitting in a train then he is in rest with respect to train but he is moving with the acceleration of train with respect to the ground.

When speed changes does its velocity change?

When the object is acted upon by an outside force.

Why does your purse fall when you hit the breaks on your car?

Because at normal driving speed, everything in the car is moving at the same velocity. When you hit the brakes, only the car is decelerating. Everything else that is not attached to the car, either by seat belt (such as your body) or other restraining device is still moving at the initial velocity as the car previously was. Thus, the purse flies forward, because its velocity is greater than the car's new velocity.

What is a reference point When dealing with motion?

It means, with respect to what is the motion calculated. There is no "absolute" motion, or velocity; you always have to compare an object to some other object, to decide whether it is moving, and how quickly.

A system of objects that are not moving with respect with each other?

it is called continum in motion

Can a body have acceleration without velocity?

Yes. Velocity is speed per unit of time with a direction vector telling you which way the object in question is moving. Acceleration is a change in velocity - in any part of velocity. If something like, say, a rock is in deep space (a zillion light years from anything) and it's moving along unaffected by any gravity or other forces, it has some velocity (some speed in a given direction, or is moving at some distance per unit of time in a given direction), but it isn't changing speed or direction. If something is moving without changing its speed or its direction (either of which requires a force to act on the object - to accelerate the object), it has zero acceleration. Such an object is said to have a constant velocity and will have zero acceleration. Certainly if an object is not moving, it has zero velocity and zero acceleration, but that's probably not what is being asked. It has velocity (zero) and no acceleration. To recap, an object can have a non-zero velocity and zero acceleration.

If two car are moving in the same direction and the velocity of car A exceeds the velocity of car B does it mean that car A's acceleration is greater than car B?

Not at all. In fact, if they're both moving at constant speed, then neither one has anyacceleration. What you describe just means that the speed of one is greater than the speed of the other right now. If either one undergoes any acceleration, then either its speed or direction will change.
