Eukaryotic cells have a membrane-bound nucleus but prokaryotic cells don't! The DNA in the Prokaryotic cell is in a singe loop but the DNA in the eukaryotic cell is everywhere. Prokaryotic cells don't have membrane-bound organelles.

Bacterial cells are usually much larger than eukaryotic cells?

There are 2 basic cell types: prokaryotic and eukaryotic. Prokaryotic cells arebacteria.Eukaryotic cells generally are larger and more complex than prokaryotic cells.

What 2 groups are living things classified as?

Eukaryotic or prokaryotic

Difference between eukaryotic cell and prokaryotic cell?

Eukariya means true nucleus.Main difference is Eukariyotes have a nucleus.Having membranous organells is identical to eukaryotes.

What are the two broad categories of cells?

1) somatic cells - regenerative cells, replace the old, worn out cells body in other words, meets the normal wear and tear of cells. 2) Gametes- reproductive cells, this event occurs only once in lifetime of any organism.

Can cells be different sixes and shapes?

Yes cells can be different sizes and shapes. There are also 2 different types of cells Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic. The difference is that Prokaryotic are single cellar and also are bacteria cells. Eukaryotic cells are multi cellar and also are animal and plant cells.

What are the 2 types of cells living organisms may be made up of?

Prokaryotic or Eukaryotic

What is the difference between prokaryotic cell and eurokaryotic cell?

The main difference is that Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus. Or to be more accurate Eukaryotic cells have membrane bound compartments in which metabolic activity takes place. Such are membrane bound organelles like Mitochondria.

What 2 things in the cell make plant cells and animal cells eukaryotic?

The two things that make both plant cells and animal cells eukaryotic are a membrane-bound nucleus that houses the genetic material and membrane-bound organelles, such as mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi apparatus, which carry out specific functions within the cell.

List three ways in which prokaryotic cells differ from eukaryotic cells?

1. Nucleus. The main difference is that eukaryotic cells have a nucleus and prokaryotic cells do not. That is really the meaning of the words prokaryotic (before nucleus) and eukaryotic (true nucleus). 2. Organelles. Eukaryotic cells have membrane-bound organelles and prokaryotic cells do not. I say membrane-bound organelles (mitochondrion, lysosomes) because both have ribosomes, which in come texts are considered organelles, but ribosomes are not membrane-bound (surrounded by a membrane). 3. Size. Eukaryotic cells are huge compared to prokaryotic cells. Most eukaryotic cells can be seen in detail with a simple light microscope. 4. Method of reproduction( cell division). Prokaryotic cells divide by binary fission and eukaryotic cells divide by mitosis or meiosis.

Compare and contrast prokaryotic cells with eukaryotic cells?

There are a LOT of difference between a prokaryotic and a eukaryotic cell. However, there are some similarities too. Difference * For one, the eukaryotic is much larger in size compared to a prokaryotic cell. * Eukaryotic cells have membrane-bound organelles. Prokaryotic cells have only one organelle: the ribosomes. * Ribosomes look different in size and shape in prokaryotes than eukaryotes. * Eukaryotic has nucleus, the control center of the cell. This where the chromosomes (DNA) are stored in a double phospholipid membranes. The prokaryotic cell has, not a nucleus, but a space where the DNA is stored in a circular form called plasmids. * Prokaryotes are all unicellular. Eukaryotes, although most are multicellular, can be a unicellular organism. Similarities * They are both cells (a little obvious...) * Have cell membranes made of phospholipid chains with cholesterol and proteins crammed in between. * Both have ribosomes * Has DNA which controls how the organism acts, behaves, and looks.

What are the 2 kinds of cells?

Prokaryotes have no nucleus and just a circle of DNA. They have a strong cell wall. Eukaryotes have a nucleus, 2 strands of DNA and other specialized clusters of cell-like bodies. They have little to no cell wall.
