General William Tecumseh Sherman is often credited with the destruction of much of the South during the Civil War. His "March to the Sea" in 1864 resulted in the burning of Atlanta and the devastation of many towns and plantations in his path.

General Tecumseh Sherman, was the Union General who ransacked the South, all the way to the sea. He took over the Union Campaign in the west after General Ulysses S. Grant took over command of the Union Army, or the Army of the Potomac.
General Grant was the most important Union leader, and General Sherman was memorable for his army's invasion of the south.
The African Union does not have a Secretary General. It is led by the Chairperson, and the first one was Thabo Mbeki of South Africa.
