Both genders are fertile all of their life, A female shouldn't breed after the age of seven though.
Maybe if in a really humid environment, but generally German Shepherds are healthy... Some of its health problems develop due to old age...
Yes if they are properly socialized at a young age.
When they are sexually mature.
They are the third most clever breed in the worldThey are the most successful police dogThey excel in schutzhundA brilliant and loyal petGreat with children
This depends on the size and age of the dog. First time mothers will have smaller litters, for German Shepherds, probably 7 to 9 puppies.
I grew up with a German Shepherd from birth. They have a great temperment with children if they are socialized at an early age. Females appear to be more obedient and trust worthy with children. They have guarded me my entire life.
A responsible breeder will only breed their female 3-4 times maximum.A responsible breeder won't breed their female over the age of 6 years old.
depends on the age puppy 1-16lbs 6mos. old 45-65 full grown 110-135lbs all of my shepherds wieghs around the 110-150lbs range with big bones and all muscle they are all working shepherds.
No. The same breeds of dogs have the same life span but they do not all die at the same age. For Example: The average life span of a German Shepherd is 7-10 years. I have had 3 German Shepherds. One died at 11, one died at 9, and one died at 7.
All young shepherds are prone to problems with their hips. A goood percentage used to have hip displaysia (where the hip joint comes out of the socket) so they usually have their parents xrayed before breeding them. Now my 'very' well bred shepherd has hips that are too tight and has severe arthritis at 5 years old. He is on caprofen (s?) Rymadil and can not run without it flairng up. I n our German Shepherd club they will not allow you to jump Shepherds until after 2 years of age because of this reason. See your vet.
Every month until 6 months of age and then every 3 months , hope this helps
A female can be mated when she has a menstrual cycle but her first period should be left. After her second she can be bred but a dog should never be mated more than three times in her life. It would be cruel and un called for.
