The US Voting System Is A Representative Democracy Where People Vote & There Votes Are Given To The Electoral College With 538 Representatives & Those Representatives Are Split Between The States By Population But If A Population Has Less Than 3 Votes There Given 2 Extra Votes From Bigger States Which Seems Fair But These Electors Can Vote However Including Against There Population Which Is Why Sometimes A Candidate That Won The Minority Is President. This Recently Happened Trump Won Around 62,000,000 Votes & Clinton Won 65,000,000 But Trump Won More Electoral Votes. So The US System Isn’t Exactly Fair But This Is In Any Country With Representative Democracy So It’s Not Just The US.

What does voting mean?

A formal expression of preference for a candidate for office or for a proposed resolution of an issue. Voting is also a process. Normally citizens go to a designated voting place, sign a registrar that shows they have voted ( so no one can later commit voting fraud by voting as if they were the first citizen ). In the USA, the citizen is escorted to a voting machine and a curtain is drawn so the voting is confidential.

How did voting change over the years?

The mechanics of voting for the election of people to elected office has changed in several ways in the USA. In the early days of elections in the USA, paper ballots (secret to protect voters) was done with paper ballots placed in a ballot box. The system has evolved in most US States with ballot machines of various kinds to allow the voter to enter a small cubicle of sorts with a drawn curtain for voters to electronically register their voting choices. In 1923, woman for the first time were allowed to vote.
