The vin plate on a 1955 ford pickup is located on the inside of the glove box door. it is riveted into the back edge of the door so if your glove box door is gone you will be out of luck on that truck.
VIN numbers did not start until the 50's.

the VIN on a 55' f-100 is on the inside of the glove box door. You may also find it on top of the drivers side frame rail, between the firewall and the steering gear box.
There is no VIN number on a 1950s vehicle. There is however a build plate located on the truck with a serial number on it that is similar to a VIN number that provides all the info about the truck. Look on the firewall, in the glove box, and anywhere else you might suspect it is located.
well my 66 f100 has a 352 and it has 175hp at the rear wheel, my buddys 65 has a 300ci and it has 108hp at the rear wheel if you check vin on the drivers door id should have it its under net hp
I've the same problem. I got a 1973 F100 with orange covers and air filter. According to the VIN, it should have a 6cil engine.... it is a V8.
