Unfortunatly you have quoted the engine number and not the code.
All 16 valve engines are hydraulic so no adjustment is possible.

I would say it is safe to assume that your 1.6 Scenic has a 1.6 L engine in it.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (ERG) recirculates a portion of an engine's exhaust as back to the engine cylinders. On a Renault scenic, the valve is located at the top center of the engine.

on the front left of the engine if its a petrol

On my 2002 1.6 Scenic it is at the aft end of the engine at the top of the bellhousing held in by 2 10mm bolts, they are around £23 for a replacement & are usually the cause of most intermittent starting problems on the scenic.
on my Renault scenic 1998 version it was at the front of the engine bay with a red cap but as for the 2003 version i dont have no idea hope this helps
