The player is probably broken.
If it works on a DVD player, it works on a xbox 360
The DVD is played from the shiny side. This means that the shiny side of the DVD, is what faces the bottom of the DVD player or drive. A laser reads it, and this is how your DVD works
HI, There's a couple types of DVD formats. DVD - and DVD +. It's the way the data was written to the disk. Many older DVD player's wouldn't play the DVD + recordings and it was a few years before the manufacturers included the `+` system in their players. Maybe that the reason your DVD won't play on someone else's machine. Hope this helps, Cubby
whats that
you may not have the right software or the right extentions to play film DVD's
A DVD will play on the computer because the computers are made to play DVD's. The Xbox 360 will not play DVD's because they are made to only play BluRay discs.

Possibly because you've dropped it or you touched the lens that does something to let you watch movies. If you cannot find out whats' wrong then i suggest you buying a new DVD player. I suggest that Sony is the best one if you do not own a Sony DVD Player.
The reason for a DVD is because of the memory being placed on such a small disk.
Save file to a computer, then burn to DVD disk
