A claymore is a double edged scottish sword which is a variant of late medieval two handed longsword. This sword is not only used as a weapon in the battle field but also as a gravemarker.
The place of origin of the M18 Claymore mine is the United States. For more information on the M18 Claymore mine i recommend visiting Military Factory the website.
The original claymore was a two-handed sword used in Scotland starting around the 16th century. It eventually evolved into a much shorter, single edged, basket-hilted design by the beginning of the 18th century. There is some argument about what was called what, but that is generally the accepted history of this sword. If you mean the claymore antipersonnel mine, it was developed in the US and named by Norman Macleod who was on the development team. It began development in 1952, and entered service in 1960.

Yes, I def. would. Think of all the reenactors, gamers, cosplayers and such that are looking for an inexpensive prop. Rather then spending big bucks on the m18a1's that are out there now, paintball, airsoft, and such, which (Once again, cost min. 60+) most people would pass on. Now if you come out with a wooden claymore mine, that's to the actual dimensions and doesn't look cheesy, then I most certainly would!

A Claymore is a type of mine that can be set off and is placed above ground and pointed toward the enemy where they are hit by ball bearing type scrap metal when it is set off. It is more of a tripwire type than a step on type of mine. This answer is more a description of actual claymore mines than how they apply to call of duty
The M18A1 Claymore is used primarily as a defensive weapon. It is normally command detonated (a soldier makes it explode at the moment he wants it to explode) It may be used as part of a defensive perimeter, along with wire and other obstacles. It has the effect of a giant shotgun, firing steel pellets in a pattern to its front. The Claymore may also be used in offensive operations, such as an ambush. During hours of darkness, firing a rifle marks the location of the shooter, but detonating a Claymore does not. They have been used to initiate an ambush, causing the first casualties, and signaling other members of the ambush to open fire. They have also been used as part of a "mechanical ambush", or mine field. In this instance, the command detonation is replaced by a tripwire detonator, and does not require personnel to be present for the mine to fire. When used in this fashion, US doctrine requires that the Claymores so employed by recorded as a minefield.

a claymore is a broad bladed sword. If you are refering to a claymore mine, it is a shaped charge device. a curved metal container holding an explosive charge, and ball bearings. when the charge explodes, the curvature of the mine body channels the charge in one direction, and propels the ball bearings out in that direction. They are actually marked on the casing " towards enemy ".
