Each president is allowed to appoint members of his "cabinet"-- there are fifteen members currently, and they hold the title of "secretary." Their job is to handle specialized roles in the government, overseeing policy in such areas as the state department, the department of labor, education, defense, commerce, agriculture, health and human services, and transportation. They meet with the president whenever he convenes a cabinet meeting, and they make sure that problems related to their department are being addressed. For example, the Secretary of State represents the US all over the world, negotiating and engaging in diplomatic discussions with leaders of foreign countries on behalf of the president; the Secretary of Defense oversees the military-- the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force, and at times, the Coast Guard, advising the president on matters related to strategic decisions like troop levels, where troops will be assigned, etc.

The Executive Branch
I would say the Presidency is the main office of the Executive branch. The President is the chief executive officer. The cabinet secretaries and other officials of cabinet rank are secondary to the President.
President, Vice President and Cabinets are the main groups or people of the executive branch.
The executive branch is composed of the President and his supporting staff. This includes the Cabinet which advises the President on matters pertaining to their agencies.
