Comparison between ICSE Board and other programme's like
CBSE and other boards
i. The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and the ICSE have a different
syllabus, education pattern, exams and other aspects.
ii. While talking about the syllabus, the CBSE has a more scientific approach. The whole
syllabus is divided into several units. In each unit, is also specified the number of periods
that are needed for completion. The syllabus also includes the amount of marks in each
unit. The ICSE does not have such a scientific approach.
iii. The ICSE syllabus is considered to be more elaborate and heavy as compared to the
CBSE. While the ICSE has two papers on English, the CBSE has only one paper.
iv. Another difference seen is that Environmental Education is compulsory with ICSE. On the
contrary, it is not so with the CBSE.
v. In terms of the exam pattern, the entrance examinations follow the CBSE. So the
students of ICSE curriculum have to put an extra mile when taking competitive exams.
vi. The CBSE Board allows regular students and private students to take the exams. On the
other hand, ICSE will not allow students who have not been studying in ICSE affiliated
schools to take exams6
Beginner's Guide to ICSE Education
vii. Different boards differ in the way they test students; SSC exams are content based, the
CBSE exams are application based, and the ICSE exams are knowledge, understanding,
application and skill-set based.
viii. CBSE students also seem to have an edge over other students when it comes to taking
the UPSC administrative service examinations, such as the IAS and the IPS. However,
when it comes to taking up entrance exams outside of India, for example SAT and
TOEFL, teachers seem to recommend the ICSE syllabus over CBSE. In the ICSE
syllabus, there's a clear emphasis on English and its literature.
ix. Most CBSE students say that they find it harder to switch to ICSE at higher levels,
whereas ICSE students are able make the shift easily

Of course a big no - no,as every one knows that icse board is much tougher then that of cbse, cbse is favourable to get better marks in board exams but icse should be recommended most as its English is of high standard, icse use to teach in detail which is helpful bt on other hand marks is also needed for good scope in future which is favoured by cbse....I m also a student of icse board studying in class 11 and but have knowledge of these boards...Dont think friend to get into icse as u must hv a habit of studying cbse easy pattern as compared to icse....Hope so u will take right decision.. . . .. . ..
Both CBSE and ICSE boards offer a solid basis for IIT-JEE study, however the choice is based on personal preferences and strengths. CBSE curriculum is highly aligned with the JEE syllabus, providing clarity and structure. On the other side, ICSE stresses analytical thinking and in-depth comprehension, which might help with the problem-solving abilities required in JEE. Before selecting a board, new students should consider their learning style, classroom atmosphere, and accessible resources.
I think ICSE goes one class ahead of CBSE till 10 class after that you better go for CBSE because most of the competetive exam follow the pattern of CBSE.
CBSE is definitely a better. board. Its even better than ICSE because all the country's competitive exams are held is the CBSE format. If your looking for good CBSE school i would suggest Shiv Nadar School Gurgaon. Its one of the best at the moment and is showing brilliant results. I'd recommend giving it a closer look
