It will not work very well. Many days when you open the door the smoke will come out the door. You can purchase a reducer to make it work, but if there is any possible way to install the 8 inch pipe, I would recommend it.

I sell stoves in BC. Codes here dictate that you can only step down the flue size by 1 inch. Make sure you check with your insurance company. They will look for anything to void your coverage if there is a fire. I agree with the fellow above: put in an 8" chimney or get a stove with a 6" collar.

What is the greatest problem caused by the use of wood-burning stoves?

The greatest problem would be accidental fires. These are caused by improper installation of the stove (having it too close to a combustible surface) and failure to maintain the stove and chimney (cleaning chimney of creosote buildup). You will also need to dispose of ash and coals safely. We have heated with wood for years, and enjoy it, but it does require attention, care, and tending the fire. Some people will not devote the attention and energy that it requires- they just want to push the button on the thermostat.

Can you connect a 15A 120V circuit to one phase of a 240V stove circuit without overloading the stove circuit?

Short answer: probably not. Longer answer: It depends on the size of wire feeding the stove, the stove amperage, and what you intend to connect to the new 15A circuit. If you just want to wire a light for the garage, sure go ahead. If you want to install a receptacle for a microwave oven, no way. Make sure you put a fuse to protect the circuit you are connecting.

How should i go about installing my wood-burning stove properly?

A good book that probably will answer your questions is Woodstove Cookery:At Home on the Range by Jane Cooper. It tells you how to find, set up, fuel, take care of , cleaning and how to cook on it. The book includes recipies from soups to breads and everything in between. I am going to assume the opposite of the other answer, and believe you just want to heat your house with it. All the info you need can be found in one free click here: http://putnut.hubpages.com/hub/Heating-Your-House-with-a-Wood-Burning-Furnace

Is your multi burning stove cover by your house insurance?

The stove would be covered just as any other part of the home and contents are covered. Make sure you tell the agent and insurance company about the stove and they want to inspect it to make sure it is installed correctly and is not a hazard.
