Not expressly, since the name "America" wasn't used until 1507, over 1,000 years after the Book of Mormon was written. The word America is only used in modern additions such as chapter summaries.
However, what is now America (the continents of North and South America combined) is mentioned repeatedly, because it is the setting for much of the Book of Mormon. It is generally referred to as the 'Promised Land'. The introduction of the Book of Mormon says "The Book of Mormon is a sacred record of peoples in ancient America."
The western discovery of America, its colonization, and the founding of the United States is fortold by the prophet Nephi in 1 Nephi chaper 13.
Singing is mentioned in 30 verses of the Book of Mormon.
A:Nephi is part of the Mormon religion and is not mentioned in the Bible. The name is mentioned in the Book of Mormon, and the are four books of Nephi therein.
I counted 444 occurrances of the word "heart" or "hearts" in the Book of Mormon.
271 times.
No, the Mormon religion was founded by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.
There is a land called Joshua mentioned in Mormon 2:6, but no people named Joshua.
exactly 56 times.
There are a couple Josephs mentioned in the Book of Mormon. The most prominent is the son of a prophet named Lehi, who left Jerusalem with his family in 600 b.c. He later took over the roll of prophet after the death of his brother, Nephi, who inherited the position from his father. The Biblical Joseph who was sold into Egypt is also mentioned several times in the Book of Mormon.
The word "word" (or "words") is used in 790 verses in the Book of Mormon. In many of these verses, it is used more than once. You can see a list of verses from the Book of Mormon which contain the word "word" by clicking this link.
"Jesus Christ" is mentioned 64 times "Jesus" (not followed by "Christ") is mentioned 116 times "Christ" (without "Jesus") is mentioned 302 times Please note that Jesus Christ is mentioned hundreds if not thousands of times in the Book of Mormon by other names, such as "Messiah", "Son of God", "Redeemer", "Lord", "Lamb of God" and "Jehovah". I didn't count any of those. In a broader sense, every verse in the Book of Mormon is about Jesus Christ, since the entire book is meant to be "Another Witness of Jesus Christ". The Book of Mormon is a testimony of the faithfulness of God and the divinity and necessity of Jesus Christ as our Savior.
The word faith is said several hundred times. It is mentioned in 109 chapters, but I couldn't possibly start to count how many times it is individually mentioned. You can read all the verses which mention the word faith at scriptures.lds.org by searching the word "faith" in the Book of Mormon.
Essentially, all that can be proved is that the Book of Mormon took place somewhere that was across a large body of water from the Middle East. From descriptions of lands in the Book of Mormon, most everyone deduces that it takes place in the Americas, with the "narrow neck of land" mentioned being near where the Panema canal is. Joseph Smith described the Native American Indians (of North, Central, and South America) as being descendants of the Book of Mormon peoples. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by far the largest denomination professing belief in the Book of Mormon, has never produced an official statement or map regarding where the Book of Mormon took place. Individual people and scholars have come up with several maps, which you can see at the "Related Links" below.
