When Anna Anderson died in 1984, her body was cremated. In 1994 DNA from a tissue sample was tested against that of Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh who is a grandnephew of Tsarina Alexandra.

It was proven then she was not the Grand Duchess Anastasia. Her DNA was matched with a grandnephew of Franziska Schanzkowska, a Polish Factory worker who went missing.

Probably not. Anne Anderson was likely not telling the truth when she claimed to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia. She was considered an impostor, after a private investigation was undertaken, was shown to be lying. Numerous lawsuits later, the German courts ruled her as claiming falsehoods. Later in 1991, the bodies of Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarina Alexandra, and three of their daughters were recovered in a mass grave near Ekaterinburg. DNA tests of the bodies, as well as some strands of hair from Anne Anderson, were made and showed that she had no blood-relation to any member of the Romanov family.

There is speculation, however, that she may have been telling the truth. There have been published articles, some of which were professionally backed, that casts doubt on the legitimacy of the DNA tests, claiming the evidence was tampered and potentially contaminated. Additionally, there have been numerous reports of professional anthropologists, along with some of the royal descendants of the Romanov family themselves, who claimed to believe Anderson's story. There are many discrepancies and unusual aspects of the Anna Anderson case, so no definite answer can be given. Nonetheless, the current verdict is that she lied.

How long did Anastasia Romanov live?

It is pretty much universally accepted now that Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov died together with the rest of her family on July 17, 1918 when they were executed by the Bolsheviks. Numerous pretenders to the Romanov fortune came forward, but all have been shown to be fakes (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anastasia_Romanov#False_reports_of_survival_and_identification_of_Romanov_remains) and DNA evidence has now confirmed that Anastasia died and was buried with her family.

What are Romanov titles?

The official titles of the Romanov family are as follows (Sainthood not included): His Imperial Highness, Tsar Nicholas Alexandrovich Romanov II of Russia, Grand Duke of Finland, and titular King of Poland Her Imperial Highness, the Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna Romanova of Hesse and by Rhine Her Imperial Highness, the Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna Romanova of Russia Her Imperial Highness, the Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna Romanova of Russia Her Imperial Highness, the Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna Romanova of Russia Her Imperial Highness, the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova of Russia His Imperial Highness, Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich Romanov of Russia, Heir Apparent to the Russian Empire These are their full extended titles, with Nicholas and Alexei, it's just as proper to cut it off at the "of Russia" part. I included the Imperial Highness because it is a proper title for Russian royalty.

Who is Anastasia Romanov?

Anastasia Romanov was the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicolas II and Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna. She was born June 18 1901 and died July 17, 1918. It was long believed that she survived, but it is not true. The most famous impostor (there were several) of Anastasia was Anna Anderson, but her DNA was tested several times and does not match the Grand Duchess DNA. If you want to improve this answer feel free to do so, but PLEASE write facts and not something you have seen in a Disney movie or read in an unreliable source. When people ask questions they deserve to be told the truth. _______________________________________________ If Anna Anderson was Anastasia, the government or the " high people " of Russia would not want the people to know. Otherwise, they might have been a civil war to fight for Anna Anderson's rights. And, of course, the government would not want a civil war! Believe what you want to believe, but think about what I typed above.

What was Anastasia romanov's nicknames?

There were several, Stacy of course, is a shortened form of Anastasia, as is Stasia. Her Imperial Highness was also given the code name of IMP by both her Mother and the IKGB protection detachment. The Romanov girls were- in Code- Olga was called the Big Girl ( which she was) Tatiana was code named Bow-Wos ( maybe she liked dogs) Apples was grand duchess Marie, and the most popular of the big four was known as the Imp. It is not inconceivable that Imp might be an abbreviation for Imperial Princess, which she was, certainly not a derisive handle!
