No he was not. His parents would not let him marry her because she was of lower class. Therefore she remained his lover. They lived together for or over thirteen years and she gave birth to his son Adeodatus. Augustine ended this relationship when his mother pressured him into an arranged marriage. He had to wait for two years before his fiancee came of age and got another lover. He was steered away from marriage by a bishop so that he could devote himself to philosophy. He never got married.
