Yes it was and by some margin. Auschwitz consisted of 3 main functioning camps alongside with around 40 sub camps. These camps were part of how Auschwitz was functioned so well as effectivly getting in prisoners and then either putting them to work or killing them in mass numbers. Some of the camps spanded 3km away from each oteher. The overall coverage was around 40 square kilometers.
