The word psychopath is not really used anymore. The term is APD (anti-social personality disorder). APD is not a mental illness, its a personality disorder. There is no cure or effective treatment for this disorder. He does suffer from other conditions that may be considered mental illnesses but the APD is his biggest problem.
Charles Manson, now well into his 70's has anti-social personality disorder, or what used to be called a sociopath or psychopath, with some paranioa thrown in. He also seems to be suffering from a mild form of dementia. It does seem though that he has not mellowed much. He rambles and rages as he did 40 years ago, still unable to stay on topic.

I have never found any basis to indicate that Manson was a necropheliac. (likes sex with corpses) But Vince Bugliosi has said of Manson 'death is Charlie's trip'. And this does seem to be true. But it is always others deaths that makes Charlie happy. The thought of losing his own puts him in great distress. When you look at Manson with a critical eye all you see is a very small man, powerless and a prisoner of his own sick mind.

They are not related. He is not even related to the man that carried the Manson last name. He raised Charles for a short time. His 16-year-old mother, Kathleen Maddox was promiscuous, a criminal, drank too much and failed to take care of her illegitimate child. Soon after his birth, Kathleen was briefly married to William Manson, and Charlie's last name changed from Maddox to Manson.
