One thing that the Gospels of Matthew and Luke agree on is that the parents of Jesus were Palestinian Jews called Joseph and Mary. The two gospels may disagree on who Joseph's father was (Jacob or Heli) but, one way or the other, they claim he was descended all the way back to the legendary Israelite King David.
