No. D-Day was the first step in the defeat of Germany. The Allies had to get back onto the mainland of Europe. D-Day occurred on coast of France. Then the Allies had to fight across France and then into Germany. The Germans fought harder to protect their homeland so the combat was much more difficult and costly. There were other reasons such as strategic bombing by the air forces. Loss of Oil supplies and other resources needed to supply the trooops. Loss of man-power.
