Yes, very much so. Tom Baker played the 4th Doctor up until '81, then Peter Davison was the 5th Doctor up until 1984. Colin Baker (no relation to Tom Baker) was The Doctor from '84 to '86, then Sylvester McCoy took over as the 7th Doc until 1989, when the series was axed by the BBC.
The series was not then revived until 2005, when Welsh TV scriptwriter Russell T. Davies persuaded the BBC to bring it back with Christopher Ecclestone playing the 9th Doctor and Billie Piper as his companion Rose Tyler. However, a Doctor Who film was made in 1996 starring Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor.
The 5th doctor was Peter Davison.
The eleventh Doctor is Matt Smith.

People in the 80s wore clothes.
"Doctor doctor" is an 80s hit song by the band The Thompson Twins. However, the word doctor means teacher in Greek. Doctor today means a person with a doctorate degree or else a medical doctor. (I'm a medical doctor)
Both of those are correct spellings. Formally, it is 1980s but many people spell it as 80s because it is shorter and faster to write. We usually say 80s when we are talking about the previous 80s. For example, when it is 2190, we will call the 2180s the 80s and in the year 1490, they also called the 1480s the 80s. I hope this helps you.
