Ellen Gould White (1827-1915) was an author who some claim to be a prophet who was involved in the formation of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The Seventh-day Adventist Church officially recognizes her as a prophet.
Ellen G. White is the author of many books including "Prophets and Kings", " The Great Controversy", and " The Desire of Ages". Ellen White was a previous Millerite, or a follower of William Miller, before what is known as " The Great Disappointment". Ellen G. White lead commentaries on The Bible, and helped to form many of the SDA (Seventh-day Adventist) doctrines and official beliefs.
In her childhood, she had a rock thrown at her head and she suffered severe head trauma and almost died. Some people attribute the visions she later had to this event.

Charles Edward Dudley, Sr., The Genealogy of Ellen Gould Harmon White (1999) makes a claim that EGW by imputing a connection of the Gould family of which she is a member, to the Gould family of Gouldtown, New Jersey, of African West-Indies descent. However, no actual evidence of this genealogy is offered. Even if we allow the possibility of a distant relation between the two families (no known connection exists), she is not in any way descended from the Goulds of Gouldstown. For further details regarding Dudley's research see Roger D. Joslyn, Gould Ancestry of Ellen Gould (Harmon) White (2002).

I have never met a black person who thinks that Ellen G. White looked anything else but black; with some African decent. In the days of DNA testing for race; one can be done on her descendants that could prove whether or not she has enough African ancestry to match her appearance.
Personally I think the whitest thing about her is her last name.
