A:Emperor Constantine was a Christian, although what he believed is unclear. He had previously worshipped the sun god Apollo, and it is thought that he may have believed that Jesus was also a sun god.

By the standards applied today, Constantine would not be considered a good Christian. He was one of the most murderous of the Roman emperors, rising to supreme power by engaging in a series of civil wars, then killing members of his own family and close friends, as well as many others. He sent Christians to plunder the pagan temples for the imperial treasury, as the largely pagan army refused to carry out such an order. It is said that he delayed his baptism until he was on his death bed so that he could continue to sin, and have all sins forgiven by the act of baptism.

Emperor Constantine started in the Roman Mytholical Religion, but converted to Catholicism before his death. By the way, there is no "Roman Catholic." It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church.
