Great heavens, no. Georgia's original constitution outlawed Catholics (and lawyers)!
Georgia was the last colony to be established, but I'm not sure if that is what you're looking for. I know that Georgia was a southern colony that was established to provide protection from Spanish Florida, and for a place for people to restart their lives. As far as I know, Georgia was the last to be settled by Europeans... sorry if this doesn't help :(
To provide a safe place for debtors of the king of England.
he established Maryland for it to be a safe place for his fellow catholics and for it to make him rich!:)
If memory serves - Maryland was initially established as a safe place for Catholics from Europe to relocate to and practice their faith freely and safely.
Georgia was established on 1732. James Oglethorpe founded Georgia with a royal charter from George II as a place where farmers/yeomen could farm and making a living. It was also established for a place where British who were in debtors prison or just poor could go so they would not overpopulate in Britain. Georgia was also founded as a buffer state between S. Carolina (under British control) and the Spanish Florida. At some point, Georgia was invaded by the Spanish, but the Spanish were defeated and prevented from advancing any further into the colonies.
Catholics invent colleges so that can place all the catholics and christians in one place, and learn about religion, specially their own religion os Jesus Christ.
