Demons are what you call entities identified with Satan. The opposite would be Angels.

The archangel Michael has cast Satan from heaven down to the earth. Revelation 20:1-3 says an angel in heaven has a key to the abyss where Satan is held for 1,000 years. The resurrected Jesus seated at the right hand of God can be identified with these events.

I'm pretty sure that the difference is Satan is a specific spiritual being (not all spirits are good), while a devil is any evil or bad spiritual being. P.S. It also important who said it and if someone says "The Devil" they are refering to Satan.
It's a loneliness that builds up into hate, kids can have Christian parents then they rebel, or in a spiritual view "Satan".
