But the FBI thinks that the KKK gave him $100,000 for killing Martin Luther King Jr. He was convicted for assassinating Martin Luther King, Jr. but always denied it. The King family unsuccessfully tried to get his case reconsidered as they believed that he was innocent. He died in prison.
