The Axis teams are the Germans in Russia and the Japanese in Japan.

Germany and Japan were the axis powers in World War II. also Italy. But in 1936 Germany had alliances also with Russia (USSR), Turkey, Yugoslavia, Romania and Austria.

I believe that the axis consisted of Germany, Japan and in the beginning of the war Russia and Italy

Japan had an alliance with Germany, as both countries had interests that conflicted with Russia. It made sense for Japan to join the Axis Powers during World War 2.

Germany, Italy, Japan, and Russia (Russia in some cases depending on how you look at it) were on the Axis power side. The U.S., Britain, Russia, China, and a majority of other countries around the world were on the allied side. Russia is both because it turned against the axis power because Hitler turned on them.
