He was a fascist of sorts, if he was to be asked he would have probably strongly objected as he called himself a Marxist-Leninist. However if you look back at the Soviet Union during Stalins control it resembles a very similar totalitarian government to that of the fascist Nazi Germany. After Stalin took dictatorial control it wasnt socialist or communist from a marxist point of view due to the simple fact that both heavily involve democracy. Stalins "variant" of socialism is often labeled 'Stalinism'; it is seen as deformity and betrayal of Marxism by most modern Marxists and left wingers and is used as an example for direct attacks on the theories of Marxism by its opponents. Which side you agree with is your choice.
(there are still some Stalinist supporters around today, there are also countries like North Korea that still follow Stalins form of total control)
Communism is traditionally opposed to forms of total control such as fascism, though there seems to be a split of Marxists; Those from the East are generally more likely to be supporters of Stalinism and Maoism. Those from the West are generally "neo-orthodox" Marxists and hold more of a developing Trotskyist view.
Joseph Stalin was a not only a communist but also in partial favor of being a democrat and republican...he was able to show his democratic side during the downfall of the provisional govt. as he needed the support for his rise to power. He then showed his republican side when he deployed plans such as collectivization and industrialization as he was forced to kill many in favor of the country and the fall of the communist regime...
No, Stalin was a communist.
^He had many beliefs in line with what the Democratic Party believes though...
That would be a communist government.
Hitler and Stalin in a blender..
No he was communist. The difference between the two is very defiant.
Hitler which is Faschist and Stalin who was Communist joined together.
They were all fascist leaders during the 1900s.
One was the tyrannical ruler of the USSR & the other was the fascist dictator in Spain.
because they were the bestest of friends and they were like brothers
Their main disagreeance was the difference in government style (Communist vs. Fascist).
The fascist rulers in Europe during World War 2 were Adolph Hitler, Benito Mussolini, the ruler of Spain and Stalin. A good example of a modern fascist would be Hussein. There are few fascists leaders in the world now. The leader of North Korea would be considered one. Read the attached link if you really want to learn more about it. ___ Note: Stalin wasn't fascist. He was a dictator, but he was a communist. The leader of North Korea is considered a communist dictator. Fascism is not the same as communism.
Stalin supported the philosophy of communism, while Mussolini supported the philosophy of fascism.
Joseph Stalin may have respected Mussolini as a leader, but he hates Fascist policies and the fact that Mussolini had sided with Hitler against the Allies. As a Communist who believed in absolute state control, Stalin clashed with Mussolini on economics and the role of classes in society, so they were very far apart ideologically.
Well, some consider both totalitarian. Fascist governments tend to please their own interests for the good of the country. Communists, like Stalin, please the country for their own good. Real communism is not totalitarian.
Joseph Stalin was a corrupt bureaucrat that warped the Socialist ideals of Marx and Lenin (and other Marxists) into a totalitarian regime where the state controlled absolutely everything. Communism by default is highly against a state even existing. Stalin was not a Communist or a Socialist by any means. He was a fascist that used Communist imagery and ideology to control everyone and everything. The only difference between Stalin and Hitler was Stalin did not kill people because they were of a certain race. However Stalin did not treat everyone equal and thought homosexuality to be a crime, much unlike Lenin who argued for homosexuality and abortion to be accepted (legalized during the planned socialist stage of the country)
