While not in the same league with such Alkies as Dean Martin, or Peter Lawford- who used to say nasty things about Gina when he was ( lit up) Miss Garland did drink, as do many celebs, and more importantly had a gross Drug problem- even Mad Magazine did a snickering satire - a parody on one of her songs- with the added lyric- And the trip that i"m taking- will mean my mind has gone! unfortunately Judy was dead by the time this hit the newstands. It was widely known that JG did drugs.

Not in the usual sense, but she was drug addict, which ultimately cost her her life, she did have Cirrhosis of the liver, a known occupational hazard of alkies- and almost got involved in a fatal auto accident but managed to get home, went to bed- and de facto died in her sleep- rather than behind the wheel of her Volkswagen. all of this happened in June of l969. see the Mickey Deans tome- Weep no More, My Lady, it is as the title suggests, a sad narrative of a dying movie star.
