william the conqueror was relatively popular with the English. They actually preferred him to some of the English ones! But, saying that the amount of times he was dissed and abused were plentiful, but with his money and good battling skills and most of all kindness towards his people, the English grew onto him and respected his ways as an english king.

Yes he was, because during The Battle of Hastings, Harold Godwinson - Harold II - was supposedly killed by an arrow to the eye - and a figure on the Bayeux Tapestry has an arrow in his eye, therefore consistent with the way Harold died.

Some like William but it was mainly his people and his army. The English did not like him at first but then they found out that William had two sides, he had a good, kind side and a bad, mean side. Overrule probably half the people in England liked William the Conqueror and the other half did not
