No, Lady Arabella Stuart (1575 - 1615) was not French even though some of her distant ancestors were French through the paternal line. The English-born noblewoman was the child of Charles Stuart, 5th Earl of Lennox (1555 - 1576) -- grandson of Margaret Tudor (1489 - 1541) and great nephew of Henry VIII (1491 - 1547) -- and Elizabeth Cavendish, Countess of Lennox (1555 - 1582) -- daughter of Elizabeth Talbot, Countess of Shrewsbury (1521? - 1608) and Sir William Cavendish (1505? - 1557).
