Wald (nurse, social activist, etc; 1867-1940), was responsible for organizing and creating many institutions which live on, today, including the Visiting Nurse Society, the Federal Children's Bureau, the Women's Trade Union League, et al.
Jane Addams ( note spelling) noted humanitarian active mainly in the Chicago area, and the Hull House her base of operations. Lillian Wald was a public-health nurse who, i believe lived later than Addams, dying in l940. they were both social-problems activists. Miss Wald did not win the Nobel Prize, which Miss Adams was awarded in l93l.
