Alexander the great's Empire, though impressive, was much smaller granted it was built in a shorter period of time. If Alexander hadn't met an untimely death at the age of 33, Rome may never have had the opportunity to grow in strength during the diadochi wars, the area would have been conquered by Alexander and things may have been quite different.
