Oscar Romero was the Archbishop of San Salvador. One of his friends had died protesting against injustice so he decided he wanted to do something about it so he protested too. He worked with the poor and in corrupt churches. This did not make the ruling class happy so a member of the right wing death squads was sent to "deal with the problem." He was shot dead the day after he gave a sermon to soldiers telling them to refuse to do orders that are against the human rights.
