really depends on how you look at it, there was Chuck Berry, BB King, Jimi Hendrix , Richie Blackmore, Chuck Schuldiner , Yngwie Malmsteen .. they all did their own part.
It wasn't Paul Gibson, it was Les Paul. The founder of Gibson Guitars was Orville Gibson. Les Paul was a very popular guitarist in the 1950's.
