YES! I've dedicated my entire Tuesday night delving into the deep and mysterical quest to find out her sexuality after discovering the male line of male idol Almanzo Wilder was tragically cut short. :(((((( After finding out she was a libertarian, I assumed that they misspelled lesbian. The conclusion? LESBIAN. LES BE HONEST. Most people don't know this, but Rose's last name, Wilder, used to be Wilber. Keeping this in mind, if you rearrange the letters in her name, you get lesbian. It was her birthright. Indeed, she was a suspected author. How else could a woman be able to write a novel if not by tempting and accepting a deal from Satan? It is the only explanation. As a man myself, I have only witnessed academic prowess from the lesbians or the dead. The only reasons she wouldn't do this? 1. Lesbian. 2. Dead. Otherwise? It would ALLLL be over. AKA me. All over her. thenk yew.

Sincerely,

A concerned redneck and the direct descendent of Phineas Gage

YES!!!!!! Yes Rose was a lesbian after her divorce from a man. When she was 16/17, she was sent to Louisiana for a year to do a final year of High School where Eliza Jane Wilder lived. DeSmet, SD had a weak High School education that kind of ended academically at age 16. Rose was a very gifted student and reader. While there, she supposedly started to date her male tutor, and lost her virg inity to him, and continued "relations" with the tutor until she returned to DeSmet a year later. Very dangerous, as there wasn't really much Birth Control in 1899, 1900. Rose worked as a telegrapher in a hotel somewhere, and that is where she met her future husband Gillett Lane. Evidently, he could not hold down a decent paying job throughout the 5-8 year marriage. They were traveling in SLC, when she was 6 months pregnant. They were staying in a SLC hotel (since torn down), when she was rushed to a nearby hospital (the chapel is still there) and her son was still-born at 6 months gestation. After this trauma (Caroline, Laura, and Rose all lost their only sons)- supposedly the family had genetic diabetes. major malnutrition and rotten teeth, Rose stayed married a couple of more years, and divorced her husband after her mother left from her 1915 San Fran. visit. Supposedly Rose had a hysterectomy right after the still birth in 1909 for some reason. After this, she had a total break down, was bipolar, and seemingly realized she was a lesbian. She cut her hair super short, almost a buzz cut- very butch!!!!). Years later, she moved back to her parents farmhouse in Missouri, built a very small, but extremely expensive rock house (at 4-5 times the cost of what it should have been!) for her parents, and was living with her lesbian lover with famous author Helen Dore Boylston in the parent's from house for years. Laura and Almanzo must have known about this, and were probably ashamed. Caroline Ingalls had 4 living children, and only 1 grandchild (Rose). Laura and Almanzo never had "relations" again after their child died at only 9 weeks of seizures or something. Laura was only about 21 and Almanzo 31. Laura was only 4'11" and Almanzo only 5'4"! (Laura's sister Carrie was supposedly only 4'8'"). They were an extremely short family, severe prairie malnutrition. Laura and Almanzo sl ept in tiny, narrow beds (even smaller than twin mattress) in the same bedrooms, but in beds on opposite sides of the wall.

no! she married Claire gillette lane. it sounds like a girls name but it isn't. they divorced though. rose spent the rest of her life single.

To assume someone is not a lesbian because she was married is simplistic. The marriage was short lived. Dorothy Thompson, journalist & wife of Sinclair Lewis was one of her best friends & bi sexual. Rose lived & traveled w/ a woman for many years.

Rose's marriage was not short-lived. They married in 1909, and their son was still born months later. They divorced finally after 9 years

There is no concrete evidence to suggest that Rose Wilder Lane was a lesbian. She was a prominent American writer and political theorist known for her libertarian views and contributions to the Little House on the Prairie book series.

Judging by Caroline Fraser’s biography I just read about her mother, i can’t imagine anybody reaching any other conclusion. As a bisexual woman in a relationship with another woman myself, the signs were hard to ignore.

She married once, then divorced quickly. Her next male suitor she preferred to keep long distance, and refused to marry. Then she traveled the world with her best friend (female) and cut off all her hair.
