I just inherited a Western Field 12 guage that belonged to my uncle. The number on the bottom of the gun 25613b. According to my father, my uncle used it to duck hunt as a kid back in the '20s, and they bought it from Sears. Hope that this helps. Western Field was a Montgomery Ward brand name. That number doesn't indicate the model number so I can't cross reference it to the manufacturer but I see no Browning guns in the list. If you want to establish the value of a store-brand gun, go to Walmart and find the least expensive gun most like yours. Figure your used gun is worth 1/2 to 3/4 as much, depending on its condition. If it will help anyone, I just recived a "Western Field Browning" , that exact wording on the gun w/ Montgomery Ward and Company, Model 30, Browning Patent 20 gauge.
This is not a Browning, but was distributed by Sears as a Western Field. Usually they sell from $100-250 depending on condition
This is not a Browning but a Western Field sold by Sears. Value runs $100-$250 depending on condition
Browning Arms Co. did not make or import any pump action shotguns in the 1950's. This gun was made by another manufacturer and could possibly say "Brownings Patent" on the gun. John Browning invented dozens of guns that other companies made. This may be what is throwing you off. Check the gun again and find the manufacturers name. It is likely a store brand such as Sears or Western Field.
A Western-Field M550 AB Slugster is worth from $ 175 - $ 225 depending on its function and condition. It has little or NO collector Value. This based on the value of a Mossberg 12 GA 500AB of which the Western- Field is a lower grade derivitive manufactured by Mossberg for SEARS. March, 2008
